El 25 de noviembre se celebra a nivel internaciona
El 25 de noviembre se celebra a nivel internacional el día de la eliminación de la violencia contra la mujer. Un nuevo informe de ONU Mujeres (@onumujeres), basado en datos de 13 países desde la pandemia, recoge que 2 de cada 3 mujeres padecieron alguna forma de violencia o conocían a alguna mujer que la sufría. Por desgracia, solo 1 de cada 10 dijo que recurriría a la policía en busca de ayuda. A su vez, se llegó a la conclusión que estas mujeres tienen más probabilidades de enfrentarse a situaciones de pobreza y escasez de alimentos. Lo mismo pasa con las mujeres periodistas de todo el mundo, la Unesco (@unesco) informa que diversos estudios han demostrado que las mujeres periodistas son objeto de mucho más ataques en línea que sus colegas masculinos, y que las amenazas que enfrentan son altamente sexualizadas, centradas en sus características físicas, su origen étnico o cultural, más que en el contenido de su trabajo. En consecuencia, esas amenazas tienden a acallar las voces de las mujeres periodistas y a socavar la libertad de expresión al interrumpir su valiosa labor de investigación periodística. También distorsionan el panorama de los medios de comunicación al amenazar la diversidad y perpetuar las desigualdades tanto en las salas de redacción como en las sociedades. Como parte de nuestro trabajo para concientizar a la población, estamos trabajando en un informe sobre la seguridad de mujeres periodistas en la región. La pandemia de COVID-19, intensificó la elaboración y diseminación de discursos discriminatorios contra poblaciones asiáticas en todo el mundo. Sin embargo, ésta práctica atenta contra los derechos de estas comunidades, por lo que debemos evitar la normalización de estos mensajes. Como parte del trabajo final del Certificado “Periodismo en tiempos de crisis” ofrecido por la @universityforpeace Matias Mora, Rubén Román, Hellen Castillo, Andrea Solano y Eledith Díaz, construyeron un manual práctico de redacción, para un periodismo humanístico, crítico, de calidad; que faculte una idea de noticia y de información que en lugar de lastimar la dignidad de las personas, propicie cambios en la conducta humana al servicio de la igualdad, la justicia y el bien común. Este proyecto de comunicación apuesta por la generación de una herramienta práctica a ser utilizada en las salas de redacción periodísticas, en la búsqueda de proveer a estos medios de un arma que les permita medir su calidad informativa y su productividad noticiosa. Due to the novelty of the sector, there is a dearth of legislation governing the actions of platform companies. This has contributed to critical vulnerabilities among platform workers as they are often denied essential workers’ rights. The foremost mechanism platform companies use to forego workers’ rights is the default classification as an ‘independent contractor’, yet is not the only one. We should aspire for peace in a global scale but also within ourselves. This year’s topic is “Recovering Better for a Sustainable and Equitable World”, and it comes in the midst of a pandemic that has demonstrated the importance of community and solidarity between different groups of people.
